Bulgarian economy in decline

Industrial production, construction and turnover in retail decreased unexpectedly in March. At the end of the first quarter Bulgarian economy seems suddenly slowed speed.

In March 2015, industrial production slowed by 0.8% compared to February, according to preliminary seasonally adjusted data of the National Statistical Institute.

Decrease compared to the previous month was registered in mining and quarrying, 2.4% in manufacturing, 0.6% in the production and distribution of electricity, heat and gas, by 0.2%.

A significant decline in manufacturing in the manufacture of food products, metal products and machinery and equipment.

Meanwhile, construction registered a decrease of 0.7% compared to February. In March 2015, the index of construction production, seasonally adjusted data is compared to the previous month, production of building construction decreased by 1.1% and civil engineering and construction, by 0.2%

Turnover in retail trade decreased by 1.3% in March from the previous month.

For March 2015 the turnover increased from the previous month in the retail pharmaceutical and medical goods, by 1.2%, retail trade in household appliances, furniture and other household goods, by 1.0%, retail trade of various goods, 0.4%, retail trade of food, beverages and tobacco by 0.3%. A decrease was registered in: retail trade of automotive fuels and lubricants, with 14.9%, retail trade of textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods, with 14.0%, retail trade via mail order houses or via Internet, 1.8 %, retail trade with computers and communication equipment, with 0.2%
